Introduction

This is āyah 30 of Sūrat Al-Muddaththir (The Cloaked One), the 4th sūrah in the traditional order of revelation. It was revealed in the Meccan period and sits within Juzʾ 29. Meccan verses tend to address faith, the oneness of God, and the hereafter.

Leave Me alone (to deal) with whom I created lonely (11)And then granted him resources in abundance (12)And children attending (13)And made life smooth and comfortable for him (14)After all that he desires that I should give more (15)Nay!
