سُورَةُ الأَنبِيَاءِ · 21:84

فَٱسْتَجَبْنَا لَهُۥ فَكَشَفْنَا مَا بِهِۦ مِن ضُرٍّۢ ۖ وَءَاتَيْنَٰهُ أَهْلَهُۥ وَمِثْلَهُم مَّعَهُمْ رَحْمَةًۭ مِّنْ عِندِنَا وَذِكْرَىٰ لِلْعَٰبِدِينَ

Saheeh International · EN

So We responded to him and removed what afflicted him of adversity. And We gave him [back] his family and the like thereof with them as mercy from Us and a reminder for the worshippers [of Allah].

Bio

Introduction

This is āyah 84 of Sūrat Al-Anbiyaa (The Prophets), the 73rd sūrah in the traditional order of revelation. It was revealed in the Meccan period and sits within Juzʾ 17. Meccan verses tend to address faith, the oneness of God, and the hereafter.

And (remember) Ayyub, when he cried to his Lord: "Verily, distress has seized me, and You are the Most Merciful of all those who show mercy. (83)So We answered his call, and We removed the distress that was on him, and We restored his family to him, and the like thereof along with them as a mercy from Ourselves and a Reminder for all those who worship Us (84) The Prophet Ayyub Allah tells us about Ayyub (Job), and the trials that struck him , affecting his wealth,children and physical health. He had plenty of livestock, cattle and crops, many children and beautiful houses, and he was tested in these things, losing everything he had. Then he was tested with regard to his body, and he was left alone with on the edge of the city and there was no one who treated him with compassion apart from his wife, who took care of him.
