وَجَعَلْنَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ رَوَٰسِىَ أَن تَمِيدَ بِهِمْ وَجَعَلْنَا فِيهَا فِجَاجًۭا سُبُلًۭا لَّعَلَّهُمْ يَهْتَدُونَ

Saheeh International · EN

And We placed within the earth firmly set mountains, lest it should shift with them, and We made therein [mountain] passes [as] roads that they might be guided.

Bio

Introduction

This is āyah 31 of Sūrat Al-Anbiyaa (The Prophets), the 73rd sūrah in the traditional order of revelation. It was revealed in the Meccan period and sits within Juzʾ 17. Meccan verses tend to address faith, the oneness of God, and the hereafter.

Have not those who disbelieve known that the heavens and the earth were joined together as one united piece, then We parted them? And We have made from water every living thing. Will they not then believe (30)And We have placed on the earth firm mountains, lest it should shake with them, and We placed therein broad highways for them to pass through, that they may be guided (31)And We have made the heaven a roof, safe and well-guarded. Yet they turn away from its signs (32)And He it is Who has created the night and the day, and the sun and the moon, each in an orbit floating (33) The Signs of Allah in the Heavens and the Earth and in the Night and the Day Here Allah tells of His perfect might and power in His creation and subjugation of all things. أَوَلَمْ يَرَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا (Have not those who disbelieve known) means, those who deny His Divine nature and worship others instead …
